Local carpet & vinyl expertise
Our carpet and vinyl flooring specialists help Medford Lakes homeowners compare materials and plan the right installation for each room.
Floors for Log Cabins and Lake Houses
Medford Lakes isn't like anywhere else around here. There are 22 lakes, cedar log cabins going back to the late 1920s, and big stone fireplaces in a lot of living rooms. More than one in ten homes in the borough is a log cabin. That's a lot of character, and it means flooring here takes a little more thought.
Some homes are original cabins, some have been added on to a few times, and some are newer houses built near the lakes. We look at each one on its own.
Uneven Floors and Lake-Life Moisture
Older cabins and add-ons often have floors that aren't quite level, or that change height from one room to the next. Vinyl plank needs a flat base, so leveling and prep matter more here than in a newer house. We'll check it on the visit and tell you what it'll take.
Living on a lake also means wet feet, wet dogs, and humid summers. Water-resistant vinyl plank handles splashes on top, but it won't fix moisture coming up from a crawlspace. If you notice a musty smell or a soft spot, let's look at that first.
Keep the Cabin Feel
A lot of folks here want a floor that looks like it belongs with log walls and a stone hearth. Warmer, rustic-looking vinyl planks with some knots and grain usually fit better than a cool gray. We'll bring samples and hold them up next to your walls.
Carpet still makes sense in bedrooms and lofts, especially in a cabin where sound carries. A good pad also makes a big difference over an older subfloor.
How It Works
We come to you, measure, and look closely at the hearth edge, the steps between additions, and every doorway. You get a written quote that breaks out material, removal, prep, and installation.
Cabins can surprise you once the old floor's up. If that happens, we'll call you, show you, and figure it out together before doing anything extra.
